(Haha)
Truthfully, I miss the way shit used to be
Free to do whatever, free from judgment and the scrutiny
I miss back when I would sleep, remember my dream lucidly
Back when everywhere I went, a new city
Truthfully, honestly, I miss the drugs every day subconsciously
I miss when the music was 'bout quality, not quantity
And sonically, the honesty was audible and obvious
And I was making tracks for nobody in the audience
To be fair, I'm very thankful that I get to be here
And I care for each and every person that got me there
Success, never thought that anyone would obsess over the songs that I write
That's something I must confess
Frankly, that's why it's so surprising when you thank me
For rapping outside the back of the show with my crew cranky
'Cause I'm talking to everybody and they just tryna sleep
But I remember when nobody took the time to see me
(I remember when nobody took the time to see me)
(I remember when nobody took the time to see me)
Bumping Demon Days by the Gorillaz on CD
Inspired, it lit a fire inside of me, growing higher with each passing day
Learning 'bout new artists and musicians
Notice new things every time I listen, synergy
No wonder I associated with powerful imagery
No wonder it was easy to offend and make enemies
Actually, energy created by your passion
Will come back as a reaction and change your life gradually
But truthfully, I miss the way shit used to be
Free to do whatever, free from judgment and the scrutiny
I miss back when I would sleep, remember my dream lucidly
Back when everywhere I went, a new city
Truthfully, honestly, I miss the drugs every day subconsciously
I miss when the music was 'bout quality, not quantity
And sonically, the honesty was audible and obvious
And I was making tracks for nobody in the audience
(And I was making tracks for nobody in the audience)
(And I was making tracks for nobody)
